Fashion & Style - The Royal Wedding

The beautiful love story between Prince William and Catherine Middleton, that unfolded before our very eyes had the whole world glued, tugging at heart strings with joy and happiness as we all came together to form a united front to celebrate this proud moment for our nation. A glorious day and historical event that will be treasured and remembered for the rest of lives as we support and honour our future King and Queen to be. 


To me, the fascinating life of a normal girl - Kate Middleton who managed to bag her Prince was simply inspiring, whilst her dignity and poise on the day seemed natural and charming. An iconic figure to be, in the spotlight of thousands and yet unbelievably relaxed on the biggest day of her life. It was simply mesmerising and such a beautiful and enjoyable day to watch.


Of course the dress was hot topic on everyones lips. A stunning design by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen in which Kate worked closely with in order to get the design and style perfect that mixed tradition with modernity and reflected the artistic vision behind the late Alexander McQueens ethos. As well as the interesting fact that Kate specifically chose a British designer to echo the traditional craftsmanship that promotes talented and skilled work by British designers and manufacturers. 


The dress was made from Ivory and White satin gazar with a train that measured 2 metres and 70 centimetres. The bodice top echoing a Victorian tradition of corsetry and a hallmark of Alexander McQueens work. The design included lace applique on the bodice and the skirt which was hand made by the Royal School of Needlework. It was hand engineered using a lace-making technique known as Carrickmoss which originated in Ireland during the 1980s - An effect that could reflect the new generation of vintage shining through into the current fashion world. Rose, Thistle, Daffodil and Shamrock designs were incorporated into the lace design to create a unique, classic and timeless look. 


As well as this a new style icon appeared in the name of Pippa Middleton. Kates sister and excellent Maid of Honour played her role with confidence and dignity in dress designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen also. Another stunning dress which I truly loved in ivory satin with a cowl neck front and same button detail that echoed the bride's dress. 

All in all a gripping and absolutely victorious day for style and british designers alike.

Its a gorgeous boutique right in the heart of the up market destination and notorious tourist land - Covent Garden in London.
