Celeb Vintage Style - Chloe Sevigny

I have researched into celebrity vintage style to find out which celebs wear vintage. As we live in a society of celeb loving enthusiasts, I think many people get their style inspirations from their favourite celebrities. I have found out that all magazines relate fashion back to celebrity style and this was something I wanted to research into, to give you more inspiration for a unique style.

Shops - A Guide to eBay

eBay is a common place nowadays to find those really unique and collectable vintage pieces from significant eras. VINTAGEZINE frequently shops and browses the auction website on the look out for re-markable pieces.

But just what is eBay?

eBay started in 1995, in San Jose, California, when a computer programmer and his wife decided to launch an auction website called 'Auctionweb', for traders to sell off unwanted items to prospective collectors all around the world. The site was later re-named to eBay and has since become the largest and most successful online business.

eBay has grown in popularity due to its safe and motivating online environment, where anyone can purchase goods confidently. It provides a huge amount of product including electrical goods, clothing and even cars amongst many more everyday objects and items.

eBay works like an electronic flea market. Sellers pay a small fee plus a 1.5% fee to eBay in order to market their product, to buyers who can use the site without any charge.

The Benefits of eBay

1.  eBay is an international market and caters to all worldwide nationalities.
2.  There is a huge amount of goods and you can find just about anything and everything.
3.  You can bid for products to ensure you get your purchase at a budget that suits you or you can 'buy it now' at a fixed price.
4. It is purely a virtual and easy to use business.
5. The 'positive feedback' allows buyers to comment on the service of sellers, to ensure an honesty incentive, so that buyers know what to expect.
6. Purchasing can be done through other payment methods such as Paypal, Bidpay and Escrow.com to ensure safe and trusted payment between parties.
7. Its a lot easier and time efficient way to find products than shopping at the market is.

Do's and Don'ts of eBay

1. Never place a bid or 'buy it now' without knowing exactly what your getting first.
2. Check out any conditions that the eBay seller might have placed in the advert - such as extra shipping costs, when it will be sent and sizes and quality of clothing, particularly if it is vintage or second hand.
3. Get more information from the seller if you have a query.
4. Read the feedback section before making your purchase from a desired seller.

Vintage Inspirations

LOVE LOVE LOVE these seventies retro orange shoes. I want them now! They portray what once could have been a fun loving day in hippy era.

I am really inspired by photography from the 1970s as I really like the old antique looking - warm brown glow. These two photos from the 70s show the old looking tint that developed in all photos during this era.

For the VINTAGEZINE shoot, coming up, I want to re-create this seventies, hazy and daydreamy effect.

My Vintage Wardrobe

Since I started on my quest to find amazing pieces of vintage to make my look more unique and individual to me, I have actually managed to find some really cool stuff. It wasn't easy, of course, I had to rummage through some not very nice stuff as well as weird items and then some absolutely brilliant and hilarious retro outfits, but I persisted and continued on my search. It felt like I was climbing a never ending mountain of clothes. It was tiring, dusty but most importantly It was great fun, I actually enjoyed the challenge. The clothes and the significant old smell all conjure up interesting stories as your mind works in overdrive and then thats it.....you spot that something fabulous!...At last, a sigh of relief, something that looks cool, easy to wear and bang on trend.
Its a purchase for sure!

I've found myself that something unique that no-one else will have...BINGO!

I found this awesome mini t-shirt dress at Brick Lane Market for £10 over the weekend and I thought it would be perfect for Glastonbury this year because of course IT IS GOING TO BE DRY AND SUNNY. But I thought it would look really cool with my wellies too. They add a bit of contrast to the stripes and make the look more interesting and fun. I have to say though, it was the back of the dress that really caught my eye. I love how the stripes run in different directions. Its almost like the top has been re-worked from something before...but who knows.

Fashion & Style - Daisy Lowe for BIBA

The iconic and popular London fashion brand of the 1960s and 1970s is back. Yes, thats right, BIBA is back on our high streets with Daisy Lowe as the face of the new launch.

Daisy Lowe said “It was a huge honour to be asked. I’ve been a fan of the brand since I was very young. When I started my modelling career, and when I first started to understand clothes, Biba was one of the first names that cropped up. I’ve always really loved Biba so when I was asked to be part of the campaign I was just ecstatic.”

The first BIBA boutique was opened by Barbara Hulanicki in 1964 in Kensington, London. It was a huge hit with the youths of the 1960s for its sex appeal and edgy style. BIBA was later closed in 1975, and the name was sold, but in 2006 it re-launched as a designer label with Bella Freud at the helm.

Now its back on the high street and exclusive to House of Fraser stores for girls to get a piece of modern history and a chance to step back into some swinging sixties shoes and party the night away.

Watch the behind the scenes video for an access-all-areas look at the press shoot, featuring the very gorgeous face of Biba; Daisy Lowe.

Vintage Inspirations

I constantly being inspired by different things all over the place whilst on my journey and quest to find amazing vintage items. Old buildings, Antiques, Florals, Pretty Patterns, Music, People and Photography.

I am hugely inspired by photography particularly the work of Tim Walker and David Hamilton. I love the fun shots, the story telling images and the use of props within their work.

DAVID HAMILTON -
A popular photographer during the 1970s who worked with ELLE and QUEEN magazine. He grew up in London whilst also spending a great deal of time in Dorset. He was extremely popular for his dreamy like and grainy style of photography which bought him success very quickly.

I love these photos above by David Hamilton. It gives a sense of the seventies and fun hippy/festival vibe.

TIM WALKER -
My favourite photographer of all time due to his imaginative, magnificent story telling images.

These two photos are by far my favourite photographs. Tim Walker - An outstanding fashion photographer from London with extravagant staging, romantic motifs and unmistakeable style.

I really love how his photgraphy is enchanting and fascinating. I have always loved his use of props in the images as I think they provide a striking and exciting effect. I love these images and they portray the mood and atmosphere of a hot summers day well.

The fantasy and day dreamy effect of this photo by Tim Walker, gives a real sense of a fun day out on the lake during a hot summers day.

This photo by Time Walker is amazing. I think it portrays a fun and exciting atmosphere and one which you definitely would want to be a part of.
